Nonetheless, given that scientists first predicted we would reach peak oil in the 1970s, and then shifted their projections closer to 2012, it appears we are destined to reach peak oil at some point during the lifetime of people who are currently in their 40s or younger. My response to finding out about this was to do only the most basic stuff in terms of preparation. Following interviews with biologists and economists about the situation, I decided to do only the most basic preparation. I have not put all my funds into farmland or piled up weapons to guard against looters and gangs of desperate people.
